JUNIOR SURF
|
Junior Surf is about developing tomorrow's lifeguards and opening up a whole new world to children. By encouraging children to have fun and participate safely in the Surf Life Saving spirit of fair play. Junior Surf is an ideal way to assist children to develop and improve their surf lifesaving knowledge and skills for themselves, and one day for others.
Palmerston North Surf Life Saving Club runs a Junior Surf programme for children aged 7 to 13. Beach Sessions Beach sessions usually start at the end of November and run every Sunday thereafter until the end of March. Sessions run immediately after Sunday morning pool sessions, at approximately 10:30am at the beach. Meet at the Club. Each session includes dry land training and water-based training (depending on weather/water conditions). Sessions are held rain, hail or shine and if the weather is especially bad (which we can expect on our wild west coast) we will hold surf safety activities in the comfort of the clubrooms. Competitions There are plenty of competitions throughout the season for our juniors to compete in, including the much anticipated Oceans Nationals. There are also many local competitions which are a great way to develop surf skills in a fun and competitive environment, experience other beaches and meet juniors from other clubs. How do we become involved? Come along to any of our training sessions or get in touch with the 2024/25 Junior Surf co-ordinators: Elizabeth Baty E: [email protected] M: 027 275 4415 Katrina Kinloch E: [email protected] M: 027 283 8133 Or email the club: [email protected] Note: Junior surf attendees will also need to become members of Palmerston North Surf Lifesaving Club, either within a family membership or as a Junior member. |
